4D Stockbridge Vibration Damper
Product Overview
The 4D Stockbridge Vibration Damper is a passive mechanical device designed to protect overhead conductors and fiber optic cables (OPGW/ADSS) from the destructive effects of aeolian vibration (wind-induced fatigue).
Operating on the asymmetric multi-resonance principle, the damper features four distinct resonance frequencies. When wind forces induce high-frequency, low-amplitude oscillations on the line, the damper weights oscillate out of phase with the cable. This movement transfers the mechanical energy into the internal friction of the galvanized steel messenger strand, effectively dissipating the kinetic energy across a wide wind velocity spectrum.(ILAC-MRA Test Report Available)
Applications
OPGW & ADSS Networks: Applied on overhead fiber optic lines to prevent micro-bending, signal attenuation, and structural strand breakage caused by continuous wind vibrations.
Transmission Lines: Installed on high-voltage and extra-high voltage overhead spans utilizing AAC, AAAC, or ACSR conductors.
Severe Environmental Terrains: Recommended for installation on long-span river crossings, layouts, and open-terrain coastal transmission routes where aeolian vibration intensities are historically high.
